This year, our campaign for the '16 Days of Action Against Gender Based Violence' (25 November - 10 December) will focus on financial abuse.
Financial Abuse is poorly recognised and therefore under reported. To help raise awareness of this form of abuse we will be highlighting some facts and statistics daily on our facebook page.
National statistics reveal that 89% of women who experience domestic abuse are also subjected to financial abuse. A recent local survey revealed the figure to be 97% in Lochaber.
At our Lochaber Violence Against Women forum on 6 December we will bring together local partners including CAB and bank managers to see how we may work together to improve the situation for women experiencing and fleeing domestic abuse.
